Michael Fishbach's Cetacean Workshop
Michael Fishbach visits schools to present an in-depth, interactive and
fun workshop on the lives of whales and dolphins. Included is a riveting
slide presentation on the marine mammals he has seen and captured on film over
the past 15 years. Michael has studied whales and dolphins in many
locations and countries around the world. The blue whale, the largest
animal on earth is Michael's specialty.

Michael brings along grand stories, interesting facts, and countless hours of
video and acoustical recordings of whales and dolphins. His presentation also
includes 2 matching charts where students can be "whale identification
technicians," matching pictures of whales and dolphins taken at different
times, often many years apart. Michael never goes anywhere without his 58'
inflatable whale - whole classrooms of students can be inside the whale
simultaneously! Michael also brings along bones, baleen plates, teeth, krill
(the favored food of the large baleen whales) and even spermaceti oil from a
sperm whale - the oil that drove the machinery of the industrial age.
Presentations are appropriate for ages 7 through to adult and can range in
time from an hour up to half a day. With advance planning the workshop could
be expanded into a multi-day program which could include specialized projects
on a certain species or the construction of an inflatable whale for the host
school to keep.
Michael is listed as a presenter on the interactive whale and dolphin website
- WHALENET.
